We are two mates based in Brisbane who love our fishing and specifically fly fishing. This means we have been tying our own flies for as long as we have been fly fishing. Since 2006 we have been experimenting with all sorts of materials to see what combinations work best to fool fish. 

After building a reputation as a commercial fly tyer and fishing guide some of Alex's mates reached out to see if he could tie them a 'jig fly' that they could cast on their conventional rods. Using a long proven Barra fly pattern and after some testing, back and forth with these mates the 'Barra Buddy' was born. 

Both Alex and Harry grew up on the Gold Coast during the 2000's however their paths did not cross until they were both living in Brisbane in 2024.

Alex spent his younger years developing into a highly successful tournament angler while working in the tackle industry. Eventually becoming a qualified skipper and guiding at renowned locations across QLD and the NT. He fully renovated a vintage Haines Hunter into a fishing machine fully funded by his fly tying prowess.

Harry finished school and ended up at a fly fishing shop in Canada. Tying flies commercially for salmon and steelhead before eventually returning home to Australia to attend university. He was never a good student and spent more time on the water than he did in the classroom and has now caught over 100 species on his own flies.
